SMITH (Moore), Eva Mary - 90, Little Judique, passed peacefully away Thursday, February 1, 2007, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, Inverness. Eva was born August 13, 1916, in North Sydney to the late Harry and Ada (Nelson) Moore.
She married Nathaniel J. Smith in 1934 and she moved to his family farm in Hillsborough, Mabou. She worked on the family farm all her life and was well-known in the community for her unwavering faith and her commitment to activities in the community. She was also known for her fabulous “biscuits” and performing in the Hillsborough Players, and is remembered for her performance in "Scrooge". Eva was predeceased by her husband, Nathaniel; daughters, Jean, Ruth, and Carol; grandson, Barry; sister, Jean Eleanor, and her special companion, her little dog, Dozer. She is survived by her sons, Nathan “Sonny” (Florence “Tootsie”), and Harry (Heather), with whom she resided. Also left to mourn are grandchildren, Arlene, Craig, Cindy, Paul, Corey, Stacey, Kimberly, Kendra, Kenney, Patrick, Josh; eight great-grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren.
Eva will be always loved and missed by those who knew her and enjoyed her sense of humour and kind heart.
Visitation will be held today from 2-9 p.m. in Hillsborough Church, where the funeral service will take place Sunday at 3 p.m. with Rev. Donna Tourneur and Linda Stumpf officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Eva may be made to the Elmwood Cemetery Fund, Canadian Cancer Society or Central Inverness County Palliative Care Society.
