RYAN, Elsworth A. "Braz" – 107, Canso, Guysborough Co. passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012, in Seaside Manor, Canso. Born in Canso, on November 30, 1904, he was the son of the late Alex and Alice (Newell) Ryan. He was a retired fisherman and was a member of Star of the Sea Parish, Canso. He was a member of the Merchant Navy. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 46, Canso. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Harold, Leo, Philip, Nelson, Jack and Tom; sisters, Margaret, Sarah, Veronica, Helen, Marie, Alice, Myrtle, Genevieve and Gertie. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 19, at 11am from Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso with Father Andrew Gillies officiating. Burial will be in Star of the Sea Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Seaside Manor, Canso.
