SELLARS, (MacQueen) Margaret 100, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret (MacQueen) Sellars, Friday February 16, 2007. Margaret was born in Dominion #6 (Donkin) Nova Scotia, November 15, 1906. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Margaret (Maggie MacRae) MacQueen.
After marrying Joseph Sellars of Western Bay, N.L., she lived most of life in New Waterford where she was an active member of Calvin United Church, singing in choir, teaching Sunday school, serving numerous committees. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and the Rebecca Lodge for many years. Margaret had a full and active life and celebrated her 100th birthday this past summer with over 170 of her relatives and friends at her summer residence at The Points, West Bay. Margaret is survived by her sons; Gordon, Toronto; Earl (Millie), Belleville, Ont.; daughters, Joan (Danny) MacDonald, Amherst; Norma Cadden, Dartmouth; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, James MacQueen, Glace Bay; sister, Rita, Canso, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; daughter, Jean; son, Peter; grandson, Larry Sellars; brothers, Roderick, George and Roy MacQueen. Margaret will be greatly missed by the many who knew her kind and gentle nature and her great sense of humor.
There is to be no viewing. There will be a memorial service for Margaret in the coming summer at a date to be later announced. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a memorial fund for Margaret at Black River United Church or to a charity of your choice.
