MacPHERSON, Neil Alexander 'Alex' - 67, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2005, in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Orangedale East, he was a son of the late Ross and Margaret (MacDonald) MacPherson. Alex was a heavy equipment operator, employed by several construction companies as well as with the Department of Transportation. He was a member of Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh, and a member of the Session. He was a former member of the Whycocomagh and Area Fire Department, as well as a former member of the AOTS Mens Club. Alex was loved by all who knew him. His love for his church was evident as he greeted parishioners on Sunday mornings. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Annie Mae (Beaton); son, Sandy (Dianne), Whycocomagh; daughters, Elizabeth, at home; Marguerite (James) MacRitchie, Whycocomagh; grandchildren, Jordon and April MacRitchie; brothers, Thompson, Toronto; Archie, Halifax; Duncan J., Whycocomagh; Malcolm, Orangedale East; sisters, Mary (Frederick) MacKinnon, Ashfield; Edna MacInnis, Hazeldale; Effie Matheson, Orangedale East; sisters-in-law, Margaret MacPherson, Aberdeen; Marcie MacPherson, London, Ont.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Murdock in infancy, Peter and Jimmy.
Visitation will be today from 2-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Stewart United Church, with Donna Tourneur officiating. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Alex may be made to the Whycocomagh and Area Fire Department.
