SAMPSON, Cedric - 77, 9298 Pepperell St., St. Peter's, died June 4, 2006, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in French Cove, August 4, 1928, he was a son of the late Joseph A. and Alma (Richards) Sampson. Cedric was a 1988 retiree of Stora Enso and, until 1960, had worked for the Mersey Paper Co. in Whycocomagh, Nyanza and McNab Cove locations. Prior to the onset of Parkinson's, he was enthusiastically involved in community organizations. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; daughters, Corrine Collier, Fonda (Floyd) Fougere, St. Peter's; son, Kiley (Lisa), Lake Fletcher; grandchildren, Jason, Jessica and Joseph Collier, Brenden and Jeremy Fougere, Shaelyn and Rylen Sampson; great-granddaughters, Tamika and Tatyana. Also surviving are sisters, Gladys Burke, St. Peter's; Winnie (Ignatius) Burke, French Cove; brother, Lenus (Vi), St. Peter's; brother-in-law, Leonard LeBlanc, Port Hawkesbury; cousins, nieces and nephews; sisters and brothers-in-law of the LeBlanc family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Matilda LeBlanc; brothers-in-law, Francis Burke, Finley Carter, and by his wife's parents, Leonel and Evangeline LeBlanc.
Visitation will be in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, St. Peter's, today from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be Friday, June 9, at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. In Cedric's memory, donations may be made to St. Peter's Fire Department or to a favourite charity.
