POULETTE, Charles William "Jolly" - 62, We'koqma'q First Nation, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, after a long battle with cancer, Tuesday, March 21, 2006, in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Stephen and Madeline (Sylliboy) Poulette. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, We'koqma'q. Charlie was a gifted cabinet maker and employed for most of his life as a carpenter. Charlie also loved to hunt and fish. Charlie is survived by his wife, Margaret Poulette (Sylliboy); daughters, Rosie, Charlotte, Jennifer "Boo"; sons, Charles "Quessy" Poulette, Christian "Monk" Phillips, all of We'koqma'q; sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" (Mike) Paul, Rosie Marshall, Nancy Sylliboy, all of Eskasoni, and Martha Brooks, Truro; brothers, Ben (Bridget), Levi, Walter (Sugar), David (Mildred), Howard (Elizabeth), all of Eskasoni, and Maynard (Gina), We'koqma'q; grandchildren, Josh and Judd, and six godchildren. He is also survived by aunt, Catherine Bernard, and uncle, Ben N. Sylliboy; stepfather, Roddie Bernard, Eskasoni; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen (Joe) Phillips, Theresa (John) Cremo, Joanne Poulette, and brother-in-law, Grandchief Ben (Marie) Sylliboy, all of We'koqma'q; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Madeline; sister, Nancy May; brothers, Eugene and Francis; godchild, Kevin D.; paternal grandparents, Levi and Nancy Poulette; maternal grandparents, Noel and Rosie Sylliboy. Visitation for the late Mr. Poulette will take place at his residence, 11 Subdivision Rd., today after 7 p.m. A funeral will be celebrated Saturday, March 25, at 11 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, with Father Bernie MacDonald officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh.
