Pettipas, Alice Patricia “Patsy”- 85, Larry's River, Guysborough Co. passed away peacefully Saturday, January 1, 2011 in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro surrounded by her loving family. Born in Nassau, Bahamas she was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Russell) Drudge. Patsy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved life and made many cherished friends. She enjoyed cooking her Bahamian dishes, her music and always had time to show friends her Calypso dancing. She was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 81, Guysborough, St. Peter’s Parish, Larry's River and a proud member of their choir. She took pride in being Registrar of births, deaths, and marriages in Guysborough County for a number of years.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Alice Neumer, Orlando, Florida; Patricia (Gerard) Long, Lantz; Nancy (Allister) Chisholm, Singapore; sons, Bill (Veronica), Truro and Pierre (Marg), Shad Bay; cherished grandchildren, Katy, Nancy, Ashley, Matthew, Megan, Nick, Andrew and Alicia. She is also survived by sister, Norma Curry, Texas and brother, Peter Drudge, Toronto. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Alphonse John, brother, John Drudge and sister, Rosemary Sweeting. At her request cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Friday, Jan 7 and 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan 8, in Communities Along the Bay Multi-Use Facility, Bradford Pellerin Room, Larry's River. Funeral mass will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan 8 in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Larry's River with Fr. Bill Crispo officiating. Burial in St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery, Larry’s River. A reception will be held in the Communities Along the Bay Multi-Use Facility, Larry's River. Donations in memory of Patsy may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, 6009 Quinpool Rd., Suite 300, Halifax, NS, B3K 5J7 or St. Peter’s Cemetery Fund, Larry's River, Guysborough County, B0H 1T0, or a charity of one’s choice.
A heartfelt thanks to the staff at Cedarstone, VON, and many other caregivers too numerous to mention. A special thanks to Harry, who often brightened her day with his music in the past five years.
