POMEROY, John Joseph - 97, of Dartmouth, and formerly of Pleasant Hill, Port Hastings, which occurred Saturday, September 3, 2011, in Dartmouth General Hospital. He was born in Paradise, N.L., son of the late William and Margaret (Foote) Pomeroy. John was a carpenter and over the years, built many boats, the last one eight years ago. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in the Merchant Navy. He is survived by his wife, Frances (Collins); daughters, Helen Craig, Geneieve Brian, Maxine Pomeroy, Joan MacAulay, Paula Dromlewicz; sons, Brian, Gerald, John Jr., Rod, David and Allan. Predeceased by son, Carl. There will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Father Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Cemetery Fund. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
