Proctor, Pauline Catherine (McNamara), Age 77 years. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our precious mother, Pauline Catherine (McNamara) Proctor of Evanston, Richmond Co. Born in Evanston, on September 30, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Gregory and Cecilia (Poirier) McNamara. Pauline passed away in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston on Saturday, October 1, 2016 with her family by her side.
Pauline is survived by her children, Gerard (Karen Adams) his children, Amy (Mom's daughter by choice) Ryan, Adam, Kelsey, Kayla, Aiden and Jenna; Rose Haigh and her children, Chris and Daniel; Arlene and Barry MacQuarrie and their children, Corrina, Tracey (Stephen Sampson) and Coady; Steve at home; Sheila and her children, Ashley, Justin and Julia; Darren and Jennifer and their child, Abbie; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Keegan Williams. Pauline is also survived by her brother, Raymond McNamara of Whiteside and sister, Marie Cogswell of Evanston; sisters- in-law, Sarah McNamara of Port Hawkesbury and Shirley McNamara of Grantville. Pauline was predeceased by her husband Laughlin "Lockie" Proctor and son Douglas "Dougie"; sisters, Marguerite and Della; brothers, Ted, Donnie and Francis; sisters-in- law, Bernice Hearn, Pauline McNamara and Valarie McNamara; brothers-in-law, Alex Cogswell, Jack Proctor, Clement Proctor and Bert Hearn; In-laws, Basil and Rita Proctor. Pauline will be missed deeply by her family and friends, especially her fur companion, Bella.
Pauline was a member of St. Francis De Sales Parish, as well as The Catholic Women's League. Pauline was a homemaker who took great pride in baking and cooking, she enjoyed bingo, cards, all country music and the Toronto Blue Jays. Pauline was truly an inspiration to our family as she battled cancer for eight years with a positive attitude and a permanent smile upon her face. Her motto was, "One day at a time".
Special thanks to Nancy Cameron of the Palliative Care Unit at The Strait Richmond Hospital who made Mom's struggle with cancer so much smoother to endure. Also, we would like to thank Dr. Collins, Dr. Pluta, Dr. Cooper and Dr. McCormick and the nurses and staff from the Oncology Unit at St. Martha's Hospital. To Mom's nurses, Jeannie, Janet, Donna and Janelle, your hugs and support meant more to Mom then you will ever know!
In keeping with Pauline's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A Graveside service will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Whiteside, with Father Callistus Abazie officiating. A reception will follow in Riverdale Community Centre, Lower River Inhabitants. Donations in memory of Pauline can be made to MADD or The Palliative Care Unit at Strait Richmond Hospital.
