Roy, Darryl Jean – age 52 years of Port Hawkesbury. It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend, Darryl Jean Roy. He passed peacefully at home on Sunday, December 3, 2017 with his loving family after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born on November 15, 1965 in Montreal Que., he was the son of Faith (nee Buckland) and Jean P. Roy and oldest brother to Michael and Marc. Darryl was so much to so many, quick witted and not afraid to speak his mind. Darryl made an impact on all who knew him and made him many friends. He was a devoted and loving husband, a fair, loving and supportive father and loved to tease his grandchildren. His caring nature, dedication and work ethic earned him respect and lasting friendships as manager of McDonald’s and helped earn him Outstanding Manager of the Year award. His coworkers were considered family to Darryl and he always believed in giving chances. His strength, bravery and courage saw him through many battles with illness throughout his life and he was an inspiration to anyone who knew him as they saw in him someone who would never give up. In the words of his brother Michael "he stared directly into the eyes of pain and death for much of his life and never blinked, and through it all he had a laugh that could break through a thousand walls". He will be deeply missed by his wife, Carolyn (MacInnis), daughters, Jessica (Joe) Whycocomagh, Sara (Matt), Port Hawkesbury; son, William, Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren, Cara, Zander, Charlize, Izaiah and Gregory, parents, Faith and Jean Roy, Hawkesbury, Ont.; brothers ,Michael (Madeleine), Toronto, Ont. and Marc (Mary), Hudson, Que.; several loving aunts and uncles and niece and nephews and cousins.
