NEWELL, Arthur James - 85, Canso, passed away July 14, 2005, in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born in Canso, he was a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Richardson) Newell. He was a retired fisherman and an avid hunter. He was a member of All Saints Anglican Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Mabel Swaine; daughters, Donna (Wayne) Gurney, Little Dover; Natalie (Fred) Rhynold, Antigonish; April (Eddie) Keefe, Canso; sons, Eugene (Sandra), Gary (Dorothy), Gord (Debbie), all of Canso; Darin (Kelly), Whitehead; sister, Delta O'Brien, Wolfville. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Elsie, Hazel, Aleta; brothers, Everette, Donald, Robert, Basil. Visitation will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in All Saints Anglican Church, Canso, Rev. Tory Byrne officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations in memory of Art may be made to Eastern Memorial Hospital.
