McNAMARA, Donald Gregory "Donnie" - 77, Evanston, died Friday, June 4, 2010, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Evanston, he was a son of the late Andrew Gregory and Mary Cecilia (Poirier) McNamara. Donnie was retired from Stora Forest Industries, Point Tupper and was a member of St. Francis de Sales Parish, Lower River Inhabitants. He was a 3rd degree member of the KOC Cape Nova Council 7924, and a member of the Cape Breton Fiddlers Association. He is survived by his loving companion, Lillian Brennan; daughters, Donna (Roger) Tremblay, Kempt Road; Sharon King, Kingston; Theresa, Port Hawkesbury; Noreen (Naish) Vassallo, Hamilton, Ont.; Brenda (George) Wright, Port Hawkesbury; Tanya (Brad) MacRae, Enfield; sons, Vernon (Irene), Halifax; Gary, Evanston; Kevin, Port Hawkesbury; Lorne (Patricia), Evanston; Mitchell (Michelle), Whiteside; sisters, Marie Cogswell, and Pauline (Lauchie) Proctor, both of Evanston; brother, Raymond (Valerie), Whiteside; 23 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Donnie was predeceased by his sisters, Della Proctor, and Marguerite in infancy; brothers, Francis and Ted; daughter-in-law, Margie. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Sunday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, in St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, Lower River Inhabitants with Father Barrett Clare-Johnson officiating.
