MacLEAN, Elwin Harris - 92, Cleveland, we regret to announce the death of Elwin Harris MacLean which occurred Thursday, April 7, 2011 in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, with his loving family by his side. Born in Marble Mountain, he was a son of the late Charles Harris and Sarah (MacLean) MacLean, formerly of Marble Mountain. Elwin was a well known sawmill operator and a jack of all trades. He enjoyed having company, planting his garden, wood working and especially loved working in the woods.
Elwin was a veteran of World War II and a member of West Bay United Church. He is survived by his five daughters, Marie, Kempt Road; Gloria, Marlene (Peter), Diana (Jimmie), all of Cleveland; Louise (Paul), New Zealand; step-daughter, Annette, Halifax; step-son, Carl, London, ON; sister, Ina Marshall, Dundee; brothers, Malcolm (Helen), Dundee; Charles (Ann), Ottawa, ON; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Alice (Eastman), second wife Emelean (Hill), infant son, Elwin Jr., sisters, Audrey, Jennie.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Saturday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury with a Legion Service at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday in West Bay United Church, with Minister Karen Ross officiating. Burial in West Bay Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
