MacNeil, Leo Peter- 85, Troy, Inverness Co. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leo MacNeil on Monday, April 11, 2011 in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Troy, February 22, 1926, he was a son of the late Ambrose and Annie (MacDougall) MacNeil. Leo was a member of Stella Maris Parish, Creignish. He retired as a supervisor from Nova Scotia Forest Industries, Point Tupper in 1989. He enjoyed fishing lobster and four wheeling.
Leo will be greatly missed by his sons, Bernie (Shelley), David and Dean (Michelle); daughters, Valerie (Phedille) Brideau and Laura all of Troy; sister, Doris MacNeil, Boston, Mass.; grandchildren, Matthew, Jake, Luke, Mark, Josh, Aaron, Leeland and Chelsie, great- grandchildren, Ava and Ben. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ada (Chisholm) MacNeil in 1989; brothers, Roderick, Francis, Father John, Bernie; sister, Catherine and granddaughter, Kimberly Ann.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Creignish with Father Hughie D. MacDonald officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made in Leo’s memory to Cystic Fibrosis Canada or Canadian Cancer Society. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
