MacLean, Alexander MacDonald – 96, Halifax formerly of River Denys, Inverness County, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2011 in St. Vincent’s Nursing Home, Halifax. Born in Eden, Inverness County on February 28, 1915 he was a son of the late Alexander and Maggie Sara (MacDonald) MacLean. He retired from the Sydney Steel plant in 1977 after 32 years of employment. He was an adherent of River Denys Presbyterian Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his brothers, Dan F. John D. and sister, Margaret. Alex was also predeceased by his loving friend and caregiver from 1987 -2008, Faye Marchand who died of cancer on March 27, 2008, at the age of 57 years. His only living caregiver is Victor Marchand whom is in a senior’s home in Saskatchewan. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in River Denys Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bob Lyle officiating. Burial in Fir Grove Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Alexander may be made to St. Vincent’s Nursing Home, Halifax, NS.
