With heavy hearts, love and wonderful memories, the family of Nan Martell of St. Peters, announce her peaceful passing on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 in Strait Richmond Hospital. Daughter of the late Frank and Agnes Sampson, our mother leaves to dearly miss her, sons, Ron (Phyllis), Halifax; Barry (Yvonne), Upper LaHave; Eric (Wanda), Lake Mush Mush, South Shore; Paul (Lucille), River Bourgeois; Gerry (Ann), Owen Sound; daughters, Kathy (Donna), Halifax; Cindy (Jerry), St. Peters. She is also survived by a brother, Charles Sampson, St. Peters; sisters, Naomi "Bea" MacNeil, Halifax and Jessie Durant, Pomquet, 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grand children and 1 great-great-grandchild. Nan was predeceased by her husband, Ron in 1999 as well as brothers, Francis, Patrick "Paddy" and John. Nan spent tireless hours raising her family of seven as well as many volunteer hours with the Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 47, St. Peters, of which she was a Charter Member. Since Ron’s passing 12 years ago, Nan was fortunate to receive the best of care from Cindy and Jerry, who graciously and generously opened their home to any family and friends from near and far so she could spend quality time with those she loved. There will be no visitation by request, family flowers only please. Funeral arrangements entrusted in the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, St. Peters with funeral mass at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, May 26 at 11 a.m. with Father Dennis Lamey officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery. Donations in our mom’s memory may be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Unit, Canadian Cancer Society, Nova Scotia Division or a charity of choice.
