MacRAE, Miriam Anne – 76, St. Anne Community and Nursing Care Centre, Arichat, formerly of MacIntyre Lake, Inverness Co., passed away on Saturday June 9, 2012, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late John Dan and Elizabeth (Clark) Shaw. Miriam was a member of the Black River United Church and the U.C.W. Miriam enjoyed going to the Legion dances, travelling and eating out. She had a gift for remembering everyone’s birthday. She loved to bowl, play cards and tell stories. She was the President of the Welcoming Committee of the St. Anne’s Nursing Home. Surviving are her daughters, Valerie MacIsaac (Blair), Louisdale; Wanita (Donald) Frost, Kempt Road; sons, Aubrey (Janet), MacIntyre Lake; Clayton (Danielle), Evanston; sister, Christine (Allan) MacKay, West Bay; brothers, Alexander (Florence) and John Albert (Gladys), both of West Bay Centre; grandchildren, Justin, Jennifer, Joe, Stephen, Sarah, Shana, Peter, Travis, Ryan and William; great-granddaughter, Bianca; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by grandson, Colby Alexander. Visitation will be from 7-9pm Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9pm Thursday both in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral Service will be 11am Friday from the Black River United Church, with Rev. Richard Bowley officiating. Burial will follow in Black River Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Black River Cemetery Fund, or to a charity of one’s choice.
