Obituary
Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the late Anne Irene MacAulay, aged 87, of Aberdeen, Inverness Co., who departed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday, December 2, 2013, in the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck.
The daughter of the late Alex and Lena (Hadley) MacLennan, Anne was born in Little Narrows, on August 20, 1926 and lived a remarkable life full of the joys of family, of humour, of music, of story-telling and of multiple interests including gardening, baking, leatherwork, painting, and furniture reupholstery. A woman who consistently showed all of us the true meaning of resilience and spirit, Anne remains a dearly beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
She is predeceased by her husband, Murdock, by her brothers, Kenny, Gordon, and Jackie, by her sister, Margie Nymark; sister-in-law, Anne MacLennan and by her brothers-in-law, Herbert Nymark and Walter Matheson. Anne is survived by her four children, Glenn (Helen); Murdith; Roy (Barb Butler); and Debby (David) Viner; as well as by nine grandchildren, Cheryl, Kenneth, Kevin, Natalie, Richard, Cindy, Shannon, Kelly and Crystal; and by eight great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Andrew, Leigh, Kaleigh, Kennice, Kyleigh, Kathryn, and Emma. Also left to mourn her passing are her brother, Sandy (Ginny); her sisters, Ethel (Steve) MacDonald and Eileen Matheson; her sisters-in-law, Edna and Margaret MacLennan; many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
The family thanks all who cared for Anne over these past months, including community members, nursing staff, the Hospice Society, Dr. Ritter, Home Care, and Dr. Carlyle Chow, who provided Anne with excellent care and friendship for many years.
In honouring Anne's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at the Little Narrows Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Andrew MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Narrows Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
