MURRAY, Mary Catherine - age 69 of Troy, Inverness Co. Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 29, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born on November 6, 1945 to the late Michael Duncan and Lexina (MacMillan) MacDonald of Harbourview, Inv Co. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Port Hawkesbury where she volunteered as a Religious Education Teacher for many years. She was a member of the Port Hawkesbury Evergreen Club. She was an employee of the Econolodge, Port Hastings where she retired. Mom enjoyed going to the walking track with her "Golden Girls" Annie and Kaye. She enjoyed good times and gatherings with family and friends. Mom loved to relax and enjoy the sunsets from her Little Judique summer home. She was a devoted, loving mother and a kind and gentle Gramma. Her true joy always came when she would spend time with her grandchildren. They will miss you dearly Gramma along with your special pal "Mocha". Mom is survived by her children, Mike (Tammy), Troy; Scott (Suzi), Port Hawkesbury; Nancy (Tim), Hammonds Plains; grandchildren, Jonathan, Hope, Maggie and Allan; siblings, John (Julie) MacDonald, Harbourview; Donald MacDonald, Port Hawkesbury; Marie (Clarence) Cameron, Port Hood; Joe MacDonald, Leon (Mary) MacDonald, all of Harbourview; Bill (Willanna) MacDonald, Mabou; Frank MacDonald, Harbourview; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister, Louise in infancy. Many thanks to Dr. Marchand, Dr. McCormick, Dr. Copper, Heather Brander and staff at St. Martha’s Oncology Clinic, Nancy Cameron - Palliative Care Strait Richmond Hospital, The Continuing Care program with special thanks to nurses Shauna Luciano and Paula Fraser , and Continuing Care Home Support Workers who all graciously supported Mom through her illness to be home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 2, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 3, from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Bill Crispo officiating. Burial in St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery, Port Hood at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Mary to Strait Area Women’s Place, Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society, Cathy’s Place or a charity of your choice.
