MOORE, George Hubert- Age 92, Mulgrave. It is with deep regret we announce the passing of George Moore, of Mulgrave on Saturday, February 6, 2016, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston with his best friend and buddy, Anthony Crant by his side.
George was born on July 10, 1923, in Little Downham, Cambridge UK, to William and Elizabeth (Green) Moore. George was a member of the Royal Navy during WWII. He was a very proud war veteran and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Cambrai Branch 37, Mulgrave. He arrived in Canada from the UK in 1955, for the building of The Albatross, the largest fishing vessel built at the time. He worked on the sea all his life until retirement, both on fishing vessels and supply ships for the off shore as a Chief Engineer.
Left to mourn his loss is his beloved wife, Margaret Lillian (Lonsdale), Mulgrave; sister, Cynthia Bradshaw; sister-in-law, Muriel; as well as a very special niece, Bev (Tony) Jordan, all of the UK; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Elizabeth (Green) Moore; brother, Reginald Moore; sister, Florrie Gibson.
There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Mulgrave with Rev. Marilyn Haugen-Strand officiating. Burial in St. Andrew’s Anglican Cemetery, Mulgrave. Donations in George’s memory may be made to St. Andrew’s Anglican Church or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
