MUNRO, Gladys Christena - age 95 years, Whycocomagh. Our dear mother passed away peacefully in the Inverary Manor, Inverness on Thursday, March 30, 2017. Born in Skye Glen, Gladys was a daughter of the late John R. and Annie (MacQuarrie) Gillis. She was a proud member of the Stewart United Church and a faithful member of the UCW. In 1945, Gladys married her loving husband of 67 years, the late George Wood MacLean Munro of Whycocomagh. Gladys was a giving and gentle spirit who worked tirelessly for her family. She loved to garden, cook, bake, knit and her home was always open to family and friends. Visits from grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her daily delights. Gladys’ goodness and kindness were a treasure that made her family rich in many ways. Her family knows that her gifts of grace were priceless. Gladys is survived by her sons, Calvin (Jean), Gordon (Isabel) and Jerry (Elsie), all of Whycocomagh; daughter-in-law, Nelly, Whycocomagh; sister, Nellie Gillis, Skye Glen and grandchildren, Jamie, Blair, Linda (Darren), Diana (Curtis), Suzanne (Kevin) and Gloria Dawn (David); great-grandchildren, Colby, Madison, Scotia, Halle Rose and Chase. Gladys was predeceased by her parents; son, Graham; brothers, Ernie, Allister, Lawrence and Ross; sister, Kaye; brothers-in-law, Fred and Myles. Visitation for the late Gladys Munro will take place from 2-9 p.m. on Monday, April 3 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4 from Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh with Rev. Rachel Campbell officiating. Burial will take place in the Stewartdale Cemetery.
