Newell (Zwicker), Ena Mae – 89, Canso, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2015, surrounded by family in the Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough. Born December 17, 1925, in Wolfville, she was the wife of the late Robert James Newell.
She enjoyed camping, playing cribbage, sewing and knitting. She worked for a short time at the Venus and Lady Amherst Restaurants in Amherst, NS. She also worked at the Eastern Memorial Hospital and retired after 15 years of working as a cook.
She is survived by daughters, Joan Horne, Canso; Mary (John) Conrad, Amherst; and Roberta Kuhn, Chester; sons, Bud (Mary), Canso; Edward, Dartmouth and Kevin, Truro; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the last living relative of her parents the late Jonathan and Francis (Farris) Zwicker, Wolfville. She was predeceased by sons, Michael and Robert; daughters, Elsie, Catherine and Annette (in infancy).
Visitation will be from 2 - 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Monday, January 19 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 20, at 11 a.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, Canso, with Rev. Darroch Fagan officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough, or to a charity of your choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
