PELLY, Walter Charles -82, Queensport, Guysborough Co., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, in the Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough. Born in Sunnyville, he was a son of the late William Henry and Hattie (Clyke) Pelly.
Walter was a great guitar player, a lover of horses and Hank Snow was his Idol. He was a bus driver, taxi driver and a hobby farmer in his earlier years.
Surviving are his partner Joan George, Queensport; daughters, Hattie (Donnie) Reddick, North Grant; Mary (Dan) Girrior, Beech Hill; Juanita (Kevin) Pelly, Debbie, Donna, all of Antigonish; Patricia (T.J. Cloukey), Halifax; sons, Allan, Steve, both of Halifax; Terry, Antigonish; brother, Stephen (Bessie), Sunnyville; sister-in-law, Dorothy, Ont; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. Walter was predeceased by his daughter, Theresa; son, Barry, brothers, Howard, Jerry, Norman, Gordon, Bill; sisters, Mary, Emma, Gladys, Gertrude, Elsie, Flossie and Agatha.
Visitation will be 1 – 2:45 p.m. with funeral mass at 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, all from St. Ninian’s Cathedral, Antigonish with Father Donald MacGillivray officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Kidney Foundation of Canada, Branch Nova Scotia.
