MacLEAN, Gary Ellis -79, Orangedale, Inverness Co., passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Inverness, he was a son of the late William Wood and Ada Jessie (Philpot) MacLean. Gary was a machine operator with Georgia Pacific Sugar Camp for 34 years. He was a member of Orangedale United Church. Gary was great to volunteer in the community and was always willing to give a helping hand. He was best known for his easy going way. Surviving are his daughter, Tina (Randy) Marsters, Bridgewater; sons, Kevin (Suzanne), Antigonish; William (Sally), Fall River; David (Annfrances), Enfield; sisters, Beverly (Bob) Thibodeau, Manchester, New Hampshire, USA; Carol (Harvey) Knight, Belfast, Maine; half-sisters, Diane MacKay, Dartmouth; Darlene Delaney, Troy; brothers, Jackie (Vivian), Dougie (Frances), both of Port Hastings; grandchildren, Trevor, Erica, Colin, Garret, Lexi, Liam and Eilish. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann (Wright); sisters, Mary and Phyllis; brother, William; half-brother, Jerome MacLean. Special thanks to the staff of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home for their care and also to Jackie and Dougie for their daily visits and strawberry sundaes. Visitation will be from 2-8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday from Orangedale United Church with Karen Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Gillis Cove Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Gillis Cove Cemetery.
