ROSS (MacKinnon), Charlotte Mae – 88, Tatamagouche, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital. Born in Marble Mountain, Cape Breton Island, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Mary Ann (Roberts) MacKinnon. Charlotte was an avid bowler, bingo player and yard sale fan. She lived in Sudbury, Ont. for over 30 years, where she raised five children. She was a life member of the Cape Breton Club of Sudbury and a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Tatamagouche. Charlotte was an avid knitter and many people received a pair of "Nanny Ross’s homemade mitts or socks."
She is survived by sons, Ed (Cheri), Steve (Pauline), both of Sudbury; Doug (Julie), at home; daughters, Jacklyn MacConnell, Tatamagouche; Elsie (Lloyd) Taylor, Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren, Keri Marcotte (Yves), Sudbury; Dawna MacConnell, Fredericton; Sandy MacConnell, Tatamagouche; Stacy and Julia Taylor, Port Hawkesbury; Russell Taylor, Alberta; sister, Margie MacQueen, Sydney; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband, Jack Ross; brothers, Dan Charlie and John Alex MacKinnon; sisters, Sadie (MacDonald) Matheson and Kay MacIvor.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9p.m. today in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh and from where the funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Karen Ross DLM officiating. Burial in Malagawatch Cemetery at a later date. There will be a memorial service Friday at 7p.m. in Royal Canadian Legion, Tatamagouche. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
