Kelly, Gordon Walter - 79, Antigonish, formerly of Mulgrave, died Saturday, November 11, 2006, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Carrick Fergus, Northern Ireland, he was a son of the late William and Barbara (Dowdican) Kelly. Gordon was a retired accountant employed by Steel Company of Canada, Hamilton, Ont. He was a member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Mulgrave, and served as a lay reader. A veteran of the Second World War, he served overseas with the Royal Navy in Ceylon. He was a past president of the Memory Lane Senior Citizen's Club, Mulgrave. He was also a member and Past Master of Temple Lodge No. 57, Mulgrave; a member and past patron of Faith Chapter No. 54 O.E.S., Mulgrave; Royal Canadian Legion, Cambrai Branch No. 37, Mulgrave, where he served as Chaplain. He served on the advisory board of Strait Richmond Hospital. He hosted the program Seniors on the Move on CIGO radio and was also a member of Nova Scotia Federation of Seniors and Pensioners. Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Colquhoun; daughter, Heather, Korea; sons, Sons Gordon, Sarnia, Ont./Antigonish; Christopher, Calgary, Alta.; daughter-in-law Genevieve Kelly Lakevale, Antigonish Co.; grandchildren, Jessica Whitmore, William and Sarah Kelly. Gordon was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by brothers, James and William; sisters, Isabel, Ellie, and Adela.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place with Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. and Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Mulgrave, with Rev. Susan Best and Rev. Dawn Dickieson officiating. Burial in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew's Anglican Church General Fund, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia and Canadian Cancer Society.
