Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jamieson, Joseph Thomas -- 90, Guysborough, NS, passed away quietly at the Guysborough Memorial Hospital, Sunday, March 18, 2007. Predeceased by parents Roy and Helen (Reid), sister Jean (Matthews) and brother Jimmy, a casualty of the Second World War. Survived by wife Sadie (Feltmate), sons and Daughters in law Reid and Darlene; Joe Jr. and Cathy, Jim and Susan; grandchildren Sheena, Jonathan, Ashley, Colin and Tracy and great grandchildren Hannah, Caleb and Noah. A humble and soft spoken man who by his own admission has lived a great life. A man whose philosophy in life was simply any day your eyes opened was a good day and was to be savoured. A man comfortable with his lot in life and was fond of saying his time on earth was only a visit because his real home would be in Heaven. A man who was fiercely proud of his rural heritage and who took every opportunity to speak compassionately of his beloved PEI birthplace, his youth in Canso and a full working and retired life in the village of Guysborough. A man who neither sought out or expected attention or accolades for his numerous and significant lifetime accomplishments. A man quick to help a friend or a stranger without judgment. So if you happen to be driving one of the many scenic roads along our rugged coastline or be sailing on the waters of beautiful Chedabucto Bay, take a moment to remember and give thanks to those before us that stood steadfast in the face of adversity and have made it possible for us to live free in this great land. Joe Jamieson was certainly in those ranks. A final note of sincere thanks and appreciation to the doctor’s, nurses and staff of the Guysborough Hospital, who in Joe’s own words were his “Angels”. Your professionalism and enduring compassion cannot be portrayed with simple words. From the entire Jamieson family, Thank you. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 24th at the Canso Baptist Church, Union Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Guysborough Memorial Hospital or the charity of your choice. By request, burial service for family members only to follow. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com.
