Nickerson, Beatrice Johanna, 79 – Canso, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Canso, she was a daughter of the late Edith Manuel and stepfather Lloyd Richardson. Beatrice worked at the fish plant in Canso and as a nurse at Hazel Hill Rest Home. She was a member of the Canso United Baptist Church and the Shamrock Club. She is survived by her daughters, Connie Haines, Nancy (Perry) Dodge, Lisa (Pete) Field; sons, Curtis W. (Mary) Nickerson and James T. (Darlene) Nickerson; sisters, Shirley (Ron) Bond and Julie (Don) Bond; brother, Dave (Marie) Richardson; grandchildren, Kimberly Nickerson, Connie (Jamie) Garrison; James, David and Curtis Nickerson; Randy and Cory Dodge; Rene, Devin and baby sister, Hopefield; great-grandchildren, James, Cora Ann, Alexander Nickerson; Jordan Nickerson; Brett Nickerson and Cody Dodge. She was predeceased by her husband, James; grandson, Dale Haines; grandparents, Jake and Nette Manuel; brothers, Lloydie Richardson; Leo, Mossie, John, Joe, Arthur and Jim Manuel. Visitation will held 2-9 p.m. Sunday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday in Canso United Baptist Church with Rev. David Wheeler officiating. Burial in Fourth Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Beatrice can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Canso United Baptist Church.
