MacKenzie, Delphine Christine, 95 - Halifax, formerly of Hazel Hill, Guysborough County. Passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in Melville Lodge Nursing Home, Halifax. Born in Port Felix, Guys. Co.; she was a daughter of the late Simon and Bridget (Richard) MacKenzie. She was a retired nursing aide from Hazel Hill Guest Home and a member of Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Albert) Geothals, Wallaceburg, Ont.; Norma MacKenzie, Halifax; Lenora Ehler, Windsor; Gloria Avery, Larry’s River; Beverley (James) Drewery, Eastern Passage; sons, Stanton (Lorraine), Bowmanville, Ont. and Gordon (Linda), Gays River; sister, Jean, Guysborough, and her husband, (George) McNeary, Truro; as well numerous grandchildren, great–grandchildren and great-great–grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey MacKenzie and sisters, Mary Dadeau and Victoria Boutilier; brother, Alphonso; sons-in-law, Donald Ehler and Wilfred Avery.The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Melville Lodge for the kindness and compassion shown to their Mom over the years. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso with Fr. Andrew Gillies officiating. Burial in Fourth Hill Cemetery, Canso. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations in memory of Delphine may be made to Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso or Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
