MacInnis, Edward Neil "Eddy" 79 - Port Hawkesbury, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 4th, 2012 at the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Duncan and Stella (McNamara) MacInnis. Eddy was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Dad was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and trapping, especially with his son and friend, Larry. In addition to his love of the outdoors, Dad loved playing cards and would often wrap his knuckles on the table when he won. Eddy retired from work with the Town of Port Hawkesbury and was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Port Hawkesbury. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Annie (MacAskill), children, Linda (Gary) Mac Donald, Port Hawkesbury; Larry, Port Hastings; Bradley, Calgary; his cherished grandchildren, Tara (Kenneth), Brent, Megan, Amber, John Eddy, great grandchildren, Hannah, Benjamin and Logan, brother, John (Alanna) MacInnis of Port Hawkesbury, daughter-in-law, Annette Tremblay-MacInnis and sister-in-law, Peggy MacInnis. He was pre-deceased by his brother Todd MacInnis and an infant sister. Visitation will be held in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury with visiting hours on Sunday, May 6th from 7-9 p.m.; Monday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 8th at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Father Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial in Princeville United Church Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Strait Richmond Hospital or a charity of your choice.
