MacKINNON, Michael Thomas, "Mikie T" – 83, Mulgrave. Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Uncle, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Mulgrave, he was a son of the late Michael A. and Johanna E. (Carroll) MacKinnon. Affectionately known as "Mikie T" or "T", he worked for the CNR on the S.S. Scotia II ferry until 1955, Acadia Fisheries until 1972, then the Dept. of Highways for the remainder of his working career for the Town of Mulgrave. He was a source of knowledge of his beloved town and its people. He enjoyed working with Antiques and building radios and clocks from scratch. He was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, Mulgrave. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Jeannette "Jean" Brophy; daughters, Dianne (Brian) MacNeil, Moncton; Mary Janet Grady, Guysborough; Karen (Stephen) Druken, Mulgrave; sons, James (Maxine), Cleveland; Robert (Marilyn), Lantz; John Patrick Wayne, Mulgrave; grandchildren, Shauna, Duane, Michelle, Rory, Evan and Victoria. He was loved by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Carroll; sisters, Ruby Forrestall, Alena Bowser and Anela O’Neil. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9p.m. Friday in the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral Mass will be 11a.m. Saturday from St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave, with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place.
