SIMPSON, Edith "Mae" - 96, Boylston, Guysborough Co., passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough, N.S. Born in Manchester, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late Edmund and Sarah Almira (Atwater) Hayden. In her younger years, Mae worked at the Verdun Hospital in Quebec. During WWII, she worked in a munitions factory assembling shells for the war. She later worked for MacMaster Bros. in Boylston and also spent many years working at the Jost Store in Guysborough, where she made many friends. She enjoyed and excelled at, poetry and drawing. She loved animals of all species, with a particular fondness for crows. She had a great love for her family, the camp and the outdoors. She was a lifetime member of Chedabucto Curling Club, a member of Eastern Star #72, Guysborough, as well as a member of the former St. Paul's Anglican Church, Boylston. Mae is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Le), Jenner, AB; Terry (Julie), Calgary, AB; sister, Florence MacMaster, Port Shoreham; grandchildren, Bonna, Deborah, Dacey, Buckley, Travis and Kelcie; 11 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Orrin; sisters, Naomi Hughes, Jennie Morrow and Hazel Hayden; brothers, Everett and John. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation for the wonderful care that was shown towards Mae by the doctors and staff of both the Milford Haven Home for Special Care and the Guysborough Memorial Hospital. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5th at Boylston United Church, with Rev. Darroch Fagan officiating. Burial will follow at Boylston United Church Cemetery. Family flowers only. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough.
