MORRISON, (MacIver) Mabel Joy – 74, Marco Island, Florida and Port Hastings, NS, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2013. Born in Cape Breton, she lived many years in Michigan before moving to Marco Island in 1987. Mabel is survived by her daughters, Debra (Dave) Lewis and Pamela (Michael) Acromite, both of Pensacola, Florida; brother, Richard (Noreen) MacIver, Troy NS; sister, Betty (Jim) Langley, Port Hawkesbury; sister-in-law, Isabel MacIver, Port Hastings; grandchildren, Melanie Lewis, Michael Acromite, Collin Acromite and Keaton Acromite; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Bessie MacIver; brother, Neil MacIver. Mabel was active volunteer in the Marco Island Community, serving at the Chamber of Commerce and as a Kiwanis member. She enjoyed as well her involvement in the "Newcomers Club" of Marco Island. She looked forward to coming home to "The Farm" in Eden, cooking corn beef and cabbage for the gang, oat cakes and playing cards. Mabel was always ready with a smile and a laugh and will be sadly missed. A celebration of life gathering will be held in November on Marco Island. Burial of ashes at a later date. If desired donations may be made in Mabel’s name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or Palliative Care, Strait Richmond Hospital.
