MacQUARRIE (Ferguson), Anna Florence – Kempt Road, Richmond Co., passed away in the Strait Richmond Hospital on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, peacefully after a 50 year battle with cancer, surrounded by Pearlie and her family. Born in Wainfleet Ont, on June 7, 1931, to the late James and Mabel (Flagg) Ferguson. As an infant she moved to Cape Breton where she was raised. She is survived by her caring partner of 33 years, Pearlie Malcolm, Kempt Road; she is also survived by children, Barry (Arlene), Evanston; and their children, Corrina, Tracey (Stephen) and Coady; Gail (Donnie) MacLean, Port Hawkesbury; and their daughter, Gina (Brent); Verda MacKenzie, Aberdeen; her children, Ken (Heather), Virginia (John) and Elliott; Shelley (Bernie) MacNeil, Troy; their children, Jake and Luke; Deidre (Jamie) MacLean, West Bay; their children, Alex and Corrine; great-grandchildren, Kendra, Gavin, James, Abby, Matthew and Alexander; sisters and brothers, Colleen, Arvid, Aubrey, Shirley and Reggie. Anna was predeceased by her husband, Milton MacQuarrie; brother, Marvin. Anna lived in Hamilton Ont, for 20 years where she operated her own cleaning company. After moving back to Cape Breton, she drove the school bus for almost 30 years until her retirement. Anna loved to sew and cook. She also loved to travel, which took her too many corners of the world with Pearlie. Donations may be made to the Grantville Cemetery, or the Canadian Red Cross. Special thanks to Dr. Pluta and Dr. Collins, her nurses and homecare workers. At Anna’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family burial will take place.
