MacKINNON, Florence (Murdoch Rory) May - 87, Whycocomagh, passed away peacefully at her second home, Inverary Manor, Inverness, on Saturday, February 22, 2014.
Florence was born in Dunakyn, on March 23, 1926, the youngest of her siblings. She was the last surviving child of Mary Ann and Murdoch MacDonald. After marrying Murdock Hugh MacKinnon, she spent her life in Churchview, surrounded by her family. She was a homemaker and member of Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh.
She will be fondly remembered for her gentle demeanor, strong will and clever dry wit. Florence loved being in the company of friends old and new, playing cards and she approached life with optimism.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Rhonda and her son-in-law, David Shaw, Judique. Florence was predeceased by her husband, Murdock H., sister, Margaret; brothers, Roddie, Allan, Willie, John Archie, Murdock A. and Gordon.
Her life will be celebrated with a wake from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 2 in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh, with her funeral being held in Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh at 2 p.m. Monday March 3, with Rev. Chris Matheson officiating. Burial will follow in Stewartdale Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of Florence may be made to Stewart United Church, Central Inverness Palliative Care, or charity of your choice.
