JAMIESON, James Douglas "Doug" – 80, Queensport, Guysborough Co., passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, with family by his side. Born in Peasbrook, Guysborough Co., he was a son of the late Aldridge and Hilda (Murphy) Jamieson. He was a Boatswain with B.I.O in Dartmouth for 38 years retiring in 1995, where he had many friends. Doug was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Halfway Cove. He enjoyed cutting and splitting wood. He started his day reading the daily paper and was asked a lot to do water witching. He enjoyed fishing, especially mackerel fishing. He loved playing cards with his brother, Aubrey and sister-in-law, Mabel. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Catherine "Kaye" (Carter); daughter, Sheila (Michel) Bilodeau, Cambridge Ont; sons, Paul (Cecilia), High Prairie, AB; Craig (Krista), Guysborough; brothers, Sylvester (Sylvia), Peasbrook; Aubrey (Mabel), Halfway Cove; Wayne (Patricia), Shortts Lake; sisters, Marie Fitzgerald, Peasbrook; Erma (Wendell) Baker, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Carter, Rhiane, Mathieu, Nadine; adopted granddaughter, Mallory Borden; also leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews; special family friend, Darlene Jamieson; special friend, Raymond George, R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish, who Doug loved dearly. He was predeceased by half brother, Harold; brother-in-law, Allison Fitzgerald. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Thursday in St. James Anglican Church, Halfway Cove from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. Darroch Fagan officiating. Burial in St. James Anglican Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to St. James Anglican Church, c/o Marie Fitzgerald, RR #2 Guysborough (Peasbrook) B0H-1N0, Guysborough Memorial Hospital or to Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough.
