PIKE, Mary – 84, Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home and formerly of Point Tupper, Richmond Co., passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014, in the nursing home. Born in Norris Point Bonne Bay, N.L. she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Frances Harding.
Mary was a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Port Hawkesbury and also a member of the Evergreen Club and the Point Tupper Historical Association. She was an avid bingo and card player. She loved her N.L. music and to dance. She always cooked a family dinner every Sunday.
Surviving are her daughters, Jean (Russell) MacNeil, Lexington; Betty Howlett (Albert), Riverside Road; Wanda (Brian) Harrison, Quenneil, B.C.; sister, Kathleen Lopthien, Vancouver; brothers, Allan (Pearl) Harding, Corner Brook, N.L.; Ruben (Mabel) Harding, St. John’s, N.L.; grandchildren, Mary Lida, Russell Jr., Angela, David, Brian and Virginia; 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; great-grandchild, Meghan MacNeil; sister, Adaliade Barnes; brother, Bryant.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Port Hawkesbury with Rev. Evelyn Knorr officiating. Burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Port Hawkesbury.
