Timmons, Catherine Virginia - New Glasgow/Port Hastings. The family of Catherine V. Timmons (June 19, 1940-Nov 29, 2015) regret to announce her sudden passing at home, in New Glasgow, on Sunday. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Adele (Troke) Meisner. She was resident of Port Hastings for over 50yrs. Catherine is survived by her children; Joan (Kevin), David (Michele), Della (Bill); grandchildren; Amy (Tibor), Samantha (Paul), Fhinn (Noah) and Ainslie; twin sister, Isabel MacIver; brother, Robert (Sarah) Meisner; several cousins who were also friends; especially Judy and George; several nieces and nephews; sisters in-law, Elaine (Brian) Adams, Margo (Collin) Chisholm and brother-in-law, James Timmons. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick, brother, Roy, mother-in-law and dearest friend, Katie MacMaster and brother-in-law, Neil MacIver. Mom was a generous kind person who enjoyed life to the fullest, and took great pride in her family. She was an accomplished artist, calligrapher and photographer. She had many friends and an active social life, loved to travel and meet new people. She had the great gift of striking up a conversation with anyone. She had a wonderful sense of humor and fun; she was known to pull off a practical joke or two. She was involved for many years with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Port Hastings Fire Dept, a proud Red Hatter (Port Hawkesbury & Halifax), and an avid snowmobiler. Mom spent many enjoyable days accompanying Dad travelling around Cape Breton to concerts, dances, and kitchen parties. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 1-4 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville St., Port Hawkesbury. A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date.
