WILLIAMS (SHEA), Dorothy Sarah – 85, of Guysborough, passed away peacefully with family by her side in Guysborough Memorial Hospital on Friday, March 18, 2011, after a courageous struggle with cancer. Born in Lesterdale, she was a daughter of the late John P. and Mary Theresa (Kennedy) Shea.
Family was always the most important part of her life and she would place the needs of her family ahead of herself, especially her son, David whom she lovingly cared for.
She is survived by 6 sons and 3 daughters: Debbie (Pat), Guysborough; Paul (Anna), Beaver Bank; Barry (Grace), Port Hawkesbury; Stephen (Mary), Guysborough; Patricia Lynn (Bernie), Guysborough; David, at home; Timmy (Donna), Greenhill; Valda (Steve), Lesterdale; and John, Halifax. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, her greatest pride and joy, and two sisters, Patricia Young, Guysborough and Helen Sceles, Scarborough and brother, Jackie, Lesterdale and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Oscar (1981), her son, Claude (1988) and granddaughter, Angela (1987).
Visitation will be held at Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough, on Sunday, March 20 from 2-9 p.m. with funeral mass at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 21 in St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough with Father Jonathan Nweke officiating.
The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors, especially Dr. Foley, and all the nurses at Guysborough Memorial Hospital for all their loving care and support and especially to Karen who helped her "cross the bridge". Thank you all.
