MURPHY, Mildred B – 104. It is with great sadness that Mildred Beatrice Murphy passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 1, 2013, in High Crest Nursing Home in Sherbrooke. Born March 1, 1909, in Stormont, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of Rupert and Ada Bell MacInnes. She was the third child of seven siblings and the last survivor of seven children. A very particular lady loved by many friends and acquaintances. Moving to Goldboro, Sheet Harbour and then to Imperoyal outside Dartmouth. Mom attended Miss Murphy’s Business College in Halifax, working with Walker and Sons for several years. She met her future husband, Gregory Leonard Murphy. Married in 1936 on Christmas Eve at Pine Hill Divinity Hall. They had two daughters, Donna Edna and Janelle Lillian. Survived by grandchildren, Lisa and Neilson Arneil; Gregory and Elizabeth Colp; great-grandchildren, Cory, Geoffrey and Christopher Rasmussen, BC; Liberty Larson, Ont. Mildred was an adherent of St. Andrew’s United Church for over 70 years. She taught Sunday school as well. Also a member of Grace Maternity Hospital for many years. Mom and Dad enjoyed dancing at the Meadow Club in Halifax and also the Micmac Club in Dartmouth. They enjoyed many trips across Canada and the United States visiting their many friends and relatives for many years. Mildred worked for Dr. H.C. Sill in Halifax for over 17 years after 1956. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, from Wesley United Church, Guysborough, with Rev. Heather Manuel officiating. Special thanks are warranted to the wonderful and compassionate care to my mother during her 5 month stay at High Crest Nursing Home. A reception will be held at Janelle Colp’s home after the service. Her interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Halifax. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
