Urs Muheim 56, of Upper Fox Island Main, Guysborough County passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in the Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso surrounded by his family and friends. He is the son of Heinz and Anna Marie Gertrud (Trudy) nee Theiler of Altdorf URI, Switzerland. He is predeceased by his father Heinz. He is survived by his mother Trudy and sister Esther of Altdorf, Switzerland. He was a successful entrepreneur and business man in the area. He cherished his two dogs Blitz and Lilly and had many good friends. Urs was a dedicated community volunteer and served on many local and regional organizations including the Canso & Area Development Association (CADA), Canso Historical Society, Canso Lions Club, Canso Co-op Board, Guysborough & Area Board of Trade and tourism related committees. He will be sadly missed by all though who knew him, as a generous and caring man with a friendly personality. Urs journeyed to many parts of the world and considered Canso his real "paradise". He conveyed many stories of his beloved "Canso family" to his mother and sister Esther. During recent visits to Canso his mother, Esther and Astrid experienced the hospitality of the area and love of his friends. During his treatment stay in Halifax with Esther she hoped his health would improve, but unfortunately his condition worsened. Esther accompanied Urs on his last journey to the Canso Hospital, where extraordinary sympathy and caring was experienced from his friends and hospital staff. Esther would like to thank all for their caring towards Urs and his family. Esther expressed that "all will remain in my heart forever". Many thanks from Trudy his mother, Esther his sister and Astrid his cousin for everything. A private family ceremony will be held at a later date. The Canso Lions Club will host a Community Reception, at the Canso Lions Club, 98 Queen Street on Monday July 29, 2013 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. to honour him.
