WALSH, Roy James – 82, Mulgrave. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Uncle Roy of Mulgrave, on Friday, December 27, 2013. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late William John Walsh of Marystown, NL and Florence "Flo" Simmons of Halifax. Roy came to Mulgrave in 1946 and lived with his sister Hilda and her family where he became more than just an uncle to her children and after the passing of his siblings, he became the head of our family that kept us all connected and blessed us with his knowledge and love. He continued his education in Mulgrave and went to be employed by the CNR in Mulgrave and after its closing he went on to Halifax to work for his brother Charlie’s painting company until he returned to Mulgrave. Roy is predeceased by his wife, Kay Chisholm of Mulgrave; sister, Hilda (Gordon) Jamieson of Mulgrave; Helen (John) Powell of Springhill; Geraldine Walsh of Halifax; brothers, Frankie Walsh of Halifax; William (Gladys) Walsh of Halifax; Charles (Adele) Walsh of Halifax; Ronald (Sylvia) of PEI; nephew, Freddy Walsh of Halifax. Roy has been known for his great dancing ability and we know he is dancing with the angels. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014, from St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NS, Mulgrave and Area Resting Place or to a charity of one’s choice.
