Matheson, Effie Mae - Orangedale East, Inv Co. It is with profound sadness and loving memories we announce the passing of our sister, Effie Matheson. Effie passed away in Victoria County Memorial Hospital in Baddeck, on Monday, September 22, 2014.
Born in Orangedale East, she was the daughter of the late Ross and Margaret (MacDonald) MacPherson. Effie spent the last number of years with her brother, Malcolm MacPherson in Orangedale East. She was a member of the Little Narrows Presbyterian Church. Effie lived a quiet life, she enjoyed attending the Blues Mills Ceilidhs, but playing cards were her favourite pastime. She also always looked forward to her yearly weekend get a ways with her sisters.
She is survived by sisters, Mary (Frederick) MacKinnon, Ashfield, Edna (the late Dan) MacInnis, Hazeldale; brothers, Thompson, Toronto; Duncan J., Whycocomagh; Archie (Velda), Beaverbank; Malcolm, at home; sisters-in-law, Margaret MacPherson, Aberdeen; Marcie MacIntyre, London, Ontario. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, a twin brother in infancy, as well as brothers, Peter, Alex and Jimmy and sister-in-law, Annie Mae MacPherson.
Cremation has taken place; there will be no visitation or funeral service by request.
A graveside service and burial will take place at Little Narrows Cemetery, Thursday, September 25 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Andrew MacDonald officiating. Donations may be to Little Narrows Presbyterian Church. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh.
