Johnston, Joseph Martin – Of St. Peter's, Richmond Co., during his 79th year passed away peacefully during the early hours of Monday, September 26, 2016 at his residence. Born in Hay Cove, Richmond Co., he was a son of the late James and Mary Jessie (Sutherland) Johnston. He leaves behind his wife, Muriel (Donnahee); and five children, William, Christina, Martin, Jean and Joseph, as well as nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; his sister, Margaret. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his two sisters, Ann Isabel and Bella. Visitation will take place Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 26 Centennial Street, St. Peter’s. Funeral mass will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2016 in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Johnstown, with Father Richard Philiposki officiating. Cremation to follow, with burial in the Parish Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Joseph to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or MS Society of Canada, Atlantic Division.
