HART, RALPH MURRAY -- 87, of Boylston passed away peacefully on Sunday November 6, 2011 at Guysborough Memorial Hospital with his family by his side after a brief illness. Born on November 29, 1923, he was the son of the late Murray and Maude (Callahan) Hart of Manchester.
A woodsman, farmer, bulldozer and snow plow operator, he worked hard to provide for his family and instilled a strong work ethic among his children. He was a member of the former Boylston Baptist Church. He is survived by his longtime friend and companion, Helen Cresine, as well as his children Donald (Jean), Port Elgin NB, Wayne (Nancy), Boylston, Linda (Gaston) Bourgeois, Hammonds Plains Road, Debbie (Fred) Sullivan, Robert, both of Boylston and JoAnn (William) Luddington, New Harbour. Also surviving are his precious grandchildren with whom he shared many of his stories, Donnie, Tracy, Shawn, Michelle, Aaron, Jeffrey, Trevor, Mark, Matthew, Bradley, Robert Jr, Jeremy, Melissa and Michael Allan, as well as seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Jean (Ray) Myers and sister-in-law Bertha Hart. He was predeceased by his wife Florence (Andrews) in 1991, his daughter Roberta Simpson in 1996 as well as a daughter and grandson in infancy. His brother Willis and sisters Elsie Slade and Elva Rose also predeceased him. Visitation will be held in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough, on Wednesday November 9th from 2-4, 7-9 PM. Funeral will be held at the Boylston United Church at 2 PM on Thursday November 10th with Reverend David Wheeler officiating. Burial of ashes at the Boylston Baptist Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Boylston Community Center. Family flowers only please. Donations in Dad's memory can be made to the Guysborough Memorial Hospital or the Boylston Baptist Cemetery Fund in care of Mrs Bessie Reddick, RR#2 Boylston, Guysborough County, NS B0H 1G0
The family would like to take this opportunity to give a special thank you to Dr Foley and Dr Bell for their care and attention of Dad throughout the years and to Karen Hoben, Palliative Care for her guidance and understanding throughout his illness. Words cannot express how grateful we are to our wonderful nursing staff at the Guysborough Hospital, you girl's went above and beyond in caring for Dad (and us) through it all and your compassion will never be forgotten. Also, the student nurses from ST.FX, your gentleness with Dad will long be remembered. God Bless all of you for making his last days as comfortable as possible.
