HAMILL, (MacIntyre), Dianne – 68, Mississauga Ont, formerly of Point Tupper NS,. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the death of our sister Dianne, who passed away peacefully in Mississauga Hospital, on Friday, December 30, 2011, with her loving husband of 44 years by her side. Marie Dianne Madonna was born in St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish, on July 21, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Estelle and Patrick MacIntyre of Point Tupper. Dianne left home at an young age to work in Sydney at the Isle Royal Hotel, from there she went to Dartmouth for a short period, then she moved to Ontario where she met and married Ivan of Belfast, Ireland. She worked for many years as a switchboard operator for Admiral Co. Her passion was music and was an accomplished pianist (self-taught by ear), but graduated with honours from the Royal Conservatory of Music, in Toronto. Dianne is survived by her husband, Ivan, sisters, Maureen (Albért), Irene "Bo" (Allan), brothers, Terry and Fred "Bugs" (Jean), several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Dianne was predeceased by her step-mother, Robina, six brothers, Peter, Wayne, Allan, Clifford, Michael "Bud" and Raymond, grandparents, Irene and Leonard Fougere of D’Escousse; Johanna and Michael MacIntyre, Point Tupper; sisters-in-law, Alice, Kaye, Marilaine and Patsy. Dianne rested in Scott’s Funeral Home, Mississauga Chapel. Memorial service was held on Tuesday, January 3, 2011, Father Phil from St. Dominique’s Parish officiated. Interment followed in Morningside Cemetery, in Palgrave, Ont; Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a charity of one’s choice.
