HEARN, Patrick Joseph Jr. – 53, Mulgrave. With deep sadness the family of Patrick Joseph Hearn announce his sudden passing on Monday, August 6, 2012, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Antigonish, he was the son of Elizabeth (Power) Hearn and the late Patrick Joseph Hearn Sr.
Pat was known throughout eastern Nova Scotia and beyond for his many fundraising endeavours. He and his late wife Joyce raised awareness and funds for various charities such as CNIB, Heart and Stroke, Kidney Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Fund, all of which Pat had experiences throughout his lifetime. Pat began his working career at the 105 Truck Stop and was employed as a dispatcher with Superport Marine Services at the time of his death. His love of family and friends were so important to him. Pat was an avid Nascar fan. If it went fast, Pat wanted to be in it or on it.
Pat was predeceased by the love of his life, Joyce (Boudreau). He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Hearn, Mulgrave; brothers, Rick (Kathy), Mulgrave; Robert (Sharleen), Dartmouth; sisters, Sharon Hearn, Mulgrave; Karen Benoit (Carroll), Tracadie; Elizabeth Hearn (Robert), Point Tupper. He is also survived by step-daughters, Jocelyn Stewart Bowers, Mulgrave; Tara Stewart, Lower Sackville; stepson, Tyler Stewart (Erica), Enfield; step-grandchildren, Hannah and Ben; nieces and nephews, Michael, Kyle, Adam, Megan, Chad, Jana, Joshua, Lauren, Juanita, Becky and Samantha. Pat felt so loved by his special family; Darren, Robin, Katlin, Leah, Chloe and Abbey (The Keepings). He was also predeceased by his father, Patrick Joseph Hearn Sr.
Visitation will be from 6-9pm Wednesday, August 8, and from 2-4 and 6-9pm on Thursday, August 9, in the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place, Church St. Mulgrave. Funeral Mass will be 11am Friday from St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave, with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements for the late Patrick Joseph Hearn Jr. Are under the care and direction of the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
