HOLMES, Everett Erenest – It is with sadness that the family of Everett Erenest Holmes announces his passing on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, at the age of 86. Everett was born in Mulgrave on January 16, 1926, to the late Alexander and Janie (Kenny) Holmes. Everett worked for B&B, C.N.R. and Marine Atlantic for over 40 years. Retired in 1990 he spent the last 22 years at home. He was an active lifetime member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Mulgrave. He enjoyed bingo, country music, visiting family and friends throughout the province and spending time with his 4 grandchildren, Carly, Alberta; Tim, Ont; Chelsey, Mulgrave; and Devin, Dartmouth. He is also survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Eleanor (Murray); daughter, Darlene (Loyal), Dartmouth; son, Glenn (Sharon), Mulgrave; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Roena Holmes, New Glasgow; Mary Shaw, Alberta; Vivian Fader, Westmount. He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Marlene; sister, Hazel Pringle; brothers, Herman, John and Tom. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Mulgrave with Rev. Evelyn Knorr and Rev. Peter McRae officiating. Burial will follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Mulgrave, or to Mulgrave and Area Resting Place.
