HARRISON, Kent - It is with immense sadness that we, the family of Kent Harrison, 65, of Nevada Valley announce his sudden passing on February 11th, 2013. He was born in Vancouver BC on March 13, 1947 and was the son of the late Clarence & Nora (Cunning) Harrison. Kent came to Nova Scotia after meeting Kaye in Montreal. He had lived in Montreal for better part of his youth. He had close friends in Montreal who would later travel to Nova Scotia for hunting season but mostly for catching up and reminiscing about old times. Kent worked in the auto body trade at Joe Fee’s and Donnie Morrison’s shops. In more recent years he worked out West as a pipefitter. Kent was a loving husband to Kaye for 43 years, loving father to Shawn & Sherryl, father-in-law to Lisa and a wonderful, loving Papa to Matthew, Brandon, Morgan, Cody & Jordan. He would always lend a helping hand to his neighbors. He was so handy with all things; there wasn’t much he couldn’t put his hand to. Kent always kept apprised of the local & world news; he was an avid reader and enjoyed his Globe & Mail edition on Saturday mornings. He wasn’t one to take in many events, he was certainly a home body but if that event was family related or something for a good friend he wouldn’t miss. He enjoyed entertaining family & friends in his home and always had a good drink for them. His immediate family meant the world to Kent. He was the one who would always take home a new game for all of us to play; he always made sure his grandchildren had something to entertain them while they were down for one of their numerous visits. He thoroughly enjoyed Shawn’s trips down to visit after returning from the West, many times Mom would come home to find the two engrossed in conversation, over a good dileag. He always had supper ready for Mom after work and more often than not he would put extra on for Sherryl, especially Thursday’s which were pizza night. He did everything for Sherryl, from checking fire during the day, to being foreman during house renovations. He was an amazing father to both of us, Dad we will never forget all that you did for us and were to us. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Kaye (MacLellan); son, Shawn (Lisa), daughter, Sherryl, grandchildren, Matthew, Brandon, Morgan, Cody and Jordan. As well he is survived by Kaye’s brothers and sisters and their families. He is also survived by his maternal aunt, Grace Kent, cousins, Judy (Gary) and Debbie (Hauk) of British Columbia; and cousin, Peter (Mary Lou) Hibbard, of Ontario. In memory of Kent, donations may be made to the St. John the Baptist Cemetery fund. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-9pm in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. A celebration of life will take place in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Brook Village, Friday at 11am, with Father Bernie MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow in parish cemetery..
