HORTON, Donald James "Donnie" – 73, Port Hawkesbury. Donnie passed away peacefully in his sleep after a short battle with cancer, on Monday, September 30, 2013. Born in Liverpool, on May 8, 1940, he was a son of the late Arthur and Grace (MacDonald) Horton.
Donnie spent many years driving taxis, working at the Port Hawkesbury Arena and at the Carriage House Tavern. Donnie spent many hours with friends at the Legion where he was a long-time member. Donnie loved to cut a rug with his love Anne, especially the jive and polka. Surviving are his loving wife, Anne; sister, Pat (Ken) MacKenzie; step-children, Debbie, Gerry (Rita) and Steven (Vicki) Christian, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donnie was predeceased by brothers, Ben and Doug; sister, Alice MacIntyre.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013 in Southbrook Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 43, Port Hawkesbury.
